Our Mission
The mission of the All Healers Mental Health Alliance is to organize a long term, culturally competent response to the mental health needs of people of the United States, particularly people of color and people living in poverty affected by all hazards and disasters. We will work with all individuals, organizations, mental health, emergency response and crisis workers of various disciplines and backgrounds towards the goal of providing culturally competent mental health services and in doing so, foster hope, recovery, and resilience among affected people.

IPS seems like such a distant memory, but we have a finished product that being displayed at the Women's Mental Health Congress in Melbourne Australia this month (March 16). A Baylor colleague is attending and will present the poster on behalf of AHMHA. For those of you who have not yet met Alice Mao, she was an APA minority fellow, is a very active mentor for us at Baylor and UT.

Description: The Maryland Psychiatric Research Center (MPRC), an international leader in schizophrenia research, is accepting applications for a two-year training fellowship. The MPRC is part of the Department of Psychiatry, University of Maryland Baltimore School of Medicine. The MPRC has a strong record of helping fellows develop successful careers in diverse research areas within the context of schizophrenia. Current research areas include psychopharmacology, behavioral neuroscience, developmental neuroscience, neurochemistry, neuroendocrinology, neuroimaging, post-mortem, psychophysiology, cognitive neuroscience, drug treatment trials, ethics, and genetics.
The goal of the fellowship is to train psychiatrists, psychologists, pharmacists, and basic scientists to become leading researchers in the area of schizophrenia. The program combines individual mentored basic and clinical research with educational experiences. General educational activities include MPRC’s internal course on schizophrenia, journal clubs, meetings with invited outside senior researchers, grant writing workshops, and individualized career development.
Requirements: Applicants must hold a M.D. with completed residency training in psychiatry, a Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience, basic science relevant to the fellowship goal, or a PharmD. Only U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals, or permanent residents can apply. Positions must be filled by June 30, 2008.

Dr. Beny Primm Selects AHMHA as an Exceptional Organization
Dr. Beny Primm received the Public Health Leadership Award. He selected AHMHA as an exceptional organization conducting the work of public health at the community level, garnering us an award and a $5,000 grant. AHMHA was represented by Dr. Annelle Primm and Mr. Elliott Hill, LCSW, BCD.
